We asked the same question. So we checked what sellers in Kenya were charging in October 2026. The answer is simple. The price on the packet means little until you work out the price per pad.

Why underpads prices differ so much

Size

Most listings we saw were 60 x 90 cm. Smaller pads cost less but cover less of the bed. Bigger sheets cost more. Check the size first, then compare.

Pads per packet

Packets of 10 are the most common. Some brands sell 30 or 35 in one packet. A big packet looks expensive until you divide the price by the number of pads.

Brand and features

Well known international brands cost more per pad in the listings we saw. Features such as adhesive tape or a stated absorption level also play a part. Read the packet, not just the photo.

Where you buy

Marketplaces, pharmacies and medical suppliers all set their own prices. Delivery fees change the final cost too. A cheap packet with a high delivery fee is not cheap.

One product, many names

Kenyan shops use different names for the same thing. When you search, try these as well:

• Underpads or medical underpads
• Bed pads or bed pads for adults
• Dressing pads or bed liners
• Pee pads for adults or hygiene bed pads
• Disposable bed protector
• Chux pads, a name common in America

One warning. Some shops also use “dressing pads” for wound dressings. Those are small sterile pads for cuts and wounds. If you want to protect a bed, ask for underpads and check the size.

3. Check the size so you compare like with like.
4. Count how many pads you use on a normal day.

• Seller: a name and number you can call if something is wrong.
