How to use the pads

Share this simple routine with every nurse or carer on duty:

1. Clean your hands and put on gloves.
2. Open one packet at a time. Keep the rest closed and dry.
3. Lay a pad flat on top of the bed sheet, soft top facing up.
4. Use the adhesive tape to help the pad stay in place.
5. Change the pad as soon as it is wet or soiled.
6. Fold the used pad inwards. Dispose of it with your usual care waste and never flush it.
7. Keep the skin clean and dry. Report red skin or sores to the nurse or doctor in charge.

Be clear on one thing. The bale does not lower the price per pad. A packet costs KSh 800 and a bale costs KSh 8,000, so you pay KSh 80 a pad either way.

What the bale gives you is supply. You order once and keep 100 pads on the shelf. If you use 10 packets or more in a month, the bale is the easier buy. If you only need a few pads a week, the packet of 10 will do.
