What it is

A cannula is the small tube a nurse places in a vein so fluids and medicine can go in. This one has two soft wings and an injection port. The wings help hold it steady on the skin. The port lets staff give extra medicine through the same line.

It comes in three sizes. 18G is green and 1.30 mm wide. 20G is pink and 1.00 mm wide. 22G is blue and 0.85 mm wide. The needle is sharp, bevelled and triple faceted. The clear flashback chamber shows blood return so the nurse knows the needle is in the vein.

The cannula tube is FEP/PTFE and kink resistant. Each piece is sterile, single use and packed on its own. It is EO sterilised.
