Speculum Price in Kenya
A speculum is a consumable in most Kenyan clinics now, not an instrument you autoclave. This guide gives the current price and explains when disposable makes sense and when it does not.

Prices improve on volume. If you are running a cervical screening camp, tell us the numbers and we will quote per hundred.
Disposable or stainless
Disposable costs almost nothing per patient and removes the infection risk entirely. There is no sterilising, no tracking and no instrument going missing. For a busy outpatient clinic this is now the standard.
Stainless steel still has a place in theatre and in settings where waste disposal is difficult. It costs more up front and it needs a working autoclave and a person responsible for the cycle.
If your autoclave is unreliable, disposable is not the cheaper option, it is the safer one.
What to check before you buy
- Size. Small, medium and large are not interchangeable. Most clinics stock all three.
- Whether the unit is individually wrapped and sterile, or bulk packed.
- The locking mechanism. A speculum that slips mid examination is a patient safety issue.
- Expiry date on sterile packs.
Common questions
Do you supply in bulk for screening programmes? Yes and the price per unit drops. NGOs and county programmes should ask for programme pricing.
Are they individually wrapped? Yes, sterile and individually sealed.
